How do I bulk import Content Pages using a CSV file?
Upload multiple content pages at once instead of creating them one by one.

Bulk import lets you add many Content Pages at once. You upload one CSV file (a plain text file that works like a simple spreadsheet) instead of building each page by hand. You can import Property Pages, Area Pages, Activity Pages, Miscellaneous Pages, and About Us Pages this way. Photos and links come along too.

๐Ÿ‘‰ This feature is not available for all users. Contact [email protected] if you are interested in bulk importing your content. Setup fees may apply.

Quick Reminders

  • Use a CSV file for your import. Excel, Numbers, and PDF files do not work.
  • Do not change any column headings in the template. Safari Portal reads these headings to match your data to the right fields.

Important to Remember: Download the CSV template for the page type you need, then upload your file to that same page type.

Example: you download a Property Pages CSV template. You must upload it in the Property Pages import section. If you upload it somewhere else, like the About Us Pages section, the columns will not match, and you will get an error.

How Images Work

Images come from public image links you add to the CSV. Here is how each part works.

  • Image URL requirements
    • The image URL must be public. It cannot be password-protected. A publicly shared Google Drive link works too.
  • Primary photo
    • This is the hero photo. It is the large photo that appears at the top of your page. Pick one primary photo for every page. This is a required field.
  • Optional photos
    • You can add more photos using the Photo 1 through Photo 5 columns. These photos show up on the page in different layouts, based on how many you add.
  • Layout based on number of optional photos
    • Photo 1 only: shows as a single photo.
    • Photo 1 and Photo 2: shows as a grid, with two photos side by side.
    • Photo 1, Photo 2, and Photo 3 (or more): shows as a slideshow. Guests can click through it.
  • Photo placement
    • The primary photo shows as the hero image at the top. Optional photos show after your description text.

Step-By-Step Instructions To Set Up Your CSV File

  1. From your Content Library, click More Options, then click Import Pages.
  2. Next, select the page type you want to import.
  3. Click the button to download the blank CSV template.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: Check each column against the guide below before you upload your finished file. Each page type reads its columns in a set way, and a wrong label creates an error.

Common Columns For Every Page Type

These columns appear in every CSV template, no matter which page type you pick.

  • Subheadline: Text that shows above the main headline on the page. Optional field.
  • Header: The main section heading. Optional field.
  • Description: The main body text for the page. This field supports line breaks. Press Enter in the CSV cell to start a new line. It also supports links, using this format: [click here](https://example.com). Optional field.
    • Example: You type this in the CSV: "Learn more at our [partner website](https://partnersite.com) for booking options." Guests then see: "Learn more at our partner website for booking options," with "partner website" as a blue clickable link.
  • Tags: Keywords that help you organize and filter the page. Optional field.
  • Primary Photo: A public web link to the hero photo. This must be a public URL or a publicly shared Google Drive link. Required field.
  • Optional Photos (Photo 1 to Photo 5): Public web links to more photos. Photo 1 alone shows as a single photo. Photo 1 and Photo 2 together show as a grid. Photo 1, Photo 2, and Photo 3 or more show as a slideshow guests can click through. Optional field.

Page-Specific Columns

Each page type also has its own columns, on top of the common ones above. Here is important information about each of those page specific columns and how they should be filled out.

  • Property Name: The name of the property. This becomes the page name in Safari Portal. Required field.
  • Country: The country where the property is. Type it in English. Required field.
  • Area: The area or region within that country. If the area already exists in your account, Safari Portal links it. If it does not exist, Safari Portal creates it.

Area Pages

Use the Area Pages CSV template for regions or destinations.

  • Area Name: The name of the area or region. This becomes the page name in Safari Portal. Required field.
  • Country: The country where the area is. Type it in English. Required field.

  • Activity Name: The name of the activity or excursion. This becomes the page name in Safari Portal. Required field.
  • Country: The country where the activity happens. Type it in English. Required field.
  • Area: The area or region where the activity is. If the area already exists in your account, Safari Portal links it. If it does not exist, Safari Portal creates it.

  • Page Name: The name of the page. This becomes the page name in Safari Portal. Required field.

About Us Pages

  • Company Name: The name of your travel company. This becomes the page name in Safari Portal. Required field.

Step-By-Step Instructions To Uploading And Importing Your File

Once your CSV file is filled in, you upload it on the same screen where you downloaded the template.

  1. Fill in your downloaded CSV template with your data, using the columns above.
  2. From your Content Library, click More Options, then click Import Pages.
  3. Select your page type again. This opens the same import screen you used to download the template.
  4. On the Upload File tab, drop your completed file into the box, or click the box to browse and select it.
  5. On the Match Columns tab, check that each column in your file lines up with the right field in Safari Portal. Safari Portal matches most columns for you already. Click Continue once everything looks right.
  6. On the Confirm tab, click Confirm to start the import.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: Your pages import in the background. You can keep using Safari Portal while it runs. You will get an email titled "Page import completed" once your pages are ready, with a link to view your Content Library.

Tips & Tricks ๐Ÿ’ฅ

  • Line breaks in your Description carry over to the page. Press Enter in the CSV cell to start a new line.
  • Links use this format: [click here](https://example.com). Put the words guests should see inside the square brackets. Put the web address inside the parentheses.
  • To use a Google Drive image, make the file public first. You can make it private again once the import finishes.
