Forecasting estimated revenue and profit in your pipeline
Learn how to track estimated trip value and estimated profit on Leads and Planning files to forecast the potential value and profitability of your pipeline.

Safari Portal allows you to track both the estimated revenue and estimated profit associated with trips that are still in your Leads and Planning pipelines.

By entering these values on individual files, Safari Portal automatically aggregates them by stage, giving you a high-level forecast of the potential revenue and profit moving through your business.

Step 1: Enter estimated values on a file

To add estimated values to a file:

  1. Open the File.
  2. Expand the file details panel.
  3. Navigate to the Information tab.
  4. Enter values for:
    • Estimated Trip Value
    • Estimated Trip Profit

These fields are intended for forecasting purposes and can be updated as the trip evolves.

Step 2: Configure what to display on your pipeline stages

You can choose whether your pipeline stages display:

  • Total Estimated Revenue
  • Total Estimated Profit
  • Neither

To configure this:

  1. Navigate to your Files dashboard.
  2. Click More Options > Edit Stages.
  3. Select either the Leads or Planning pipeline from the pipeline dropdown.
  4. Choose which metric you would like displayed on the stage pill.

Note: Estimated value and profit displays can only be configured for stages within the Leads and Planning pipelines. These options are not available for other pipeline categories.

This allows you to customize your pipeline view based on the metrics that matter most to your business.

Viewing forecasts on the Files dashboard

Once estimated values have been entered, Safari Portal will automatically aggregate them for all files within each stage.

On the main Files dashboard, stage pills for Leads and Planning will display the selected metric, allowing you to quickly understand the potential value of your pipeline.

The currency used for these totals is determined by your default currency, which can be configured under Financials > More Options > Currency Settings.

For example, you might choose to display:

  • The total estimated revenue currently sitting in your Proposal stage; or
  • The total estimated profit expected from trips in your Negotiation stage.

Viewing both revenue and profit

Hover over any stage pill within your Leads or Planning pipelines to see a tooltip displaying:

  • Total Estimated Revenue
  • Total Estimated Profit

This provides a complete picture of both the potential top-line revenue and expected profitability of your pipeline.

Notes

  • Estimated values are only available for files in the Leads and Planning pipeline categories.
  • Estimated values are intended for forecasting and reporting purposes and do not affect invoicing, supplier expenses, or profitability reporting for confirmed trips.
  • Stage totals update automatically as files move between stages or estimated values are changed
