What's New in Super Builder? Your Complete Guide
From autosave and powerful customization to smarter content management, improved collaboration, and more flexible itinerary building, discover everything that's new in Super Builder.

Super Builder is much more than a new way to create Itineraries and Lookbooks. It's a complete reimagining of how you build, customize, manage, and share travel experiences in Safari Portal.

We've introduced major improvements across the platform, making it easier to create beautiful proposals, collaborate with your team, manage content, and streamline the operational side of trip planning.

If you're familiar with our original builders, here's everything you need to know about what's changed!

Saving, Publishing & Collaborating

1. Autosave & Publishing: A Whole New Workflow

One of the biggest changes in Super Builder is how your work is saved and shared.

Your changes now save automatically as you work. There's no need to manually save every edit.

However, there's an important distinction between saving and publishing:

  • Autosave saves your changes within Safari Portal as you work.
  • Publish makes those saved changes available in the client-facing version of your Itinerary or Lookbook.

This means you can continue editing a proposal without your clients seeing every change in real time.

When you're ready to share the latest version, simply click Publish.

Important: If you've made changes to an itinerary but your client is still seeing the old version, make sure you've clicked Publish!

2. Real-Time Team Collaboration

Multiple team members can now edit the same Itinerary or Lookbook simultaneously, with changes automatically saved as everyone works.

No more waiting for someone else to finish editing before you can jump in!

Combined with Internal Notes, @mentions, and Audit Logs, this makes collaborating on even the most complex itineraries much easier.

3. Internal Notes in Both Builders

Internal Notes are now supported in both Classic and Calendar Builder.

Keep important information alongside the content and services you're working on, without displaying those notes to clients.

You can also @mention team members in Internal Notes to bring something to their attention and send them a notification.

4. Audit Logs

Super Builder now includes Audit Logs, giving you greater visibility into changes made within your proposals.

See what's been updated and track activity when multiple team members are collaborating on the same Itinerary or Lookbook.

Smarter Content Management

5. Improved Apply Updates & Automatic Content Synchronization

We've significantly improved how content from your Content Library is managed and updated within Itineraries and Lookbooks.

When you update a Content Library page, those changes can automatically flow through to the proposals where that content is being used.

One of the biggest improvements is how Super Builder handles content you've customized within an individual proposal.

Previously, editing content within an Itinerary or Lookbook would break the connection to the original Content Library page entirely.

Now, only the specific section you've edited is disconnected from automatic updates. All other sections remain linked to the original Content Library page and continue receiving updates automatically.

For example, if you customize a hotel's description within a particular itinerary, that description will remain unchanged when the original Content Library page is updated. However, changes to other sections, such as fast facts, can still flow through automatically.

Combined with the improved Apply Updates functionality, this gives you much greater control over which content stays synchronized and which content remains customized for a particular client.

The result? Less manual work, fewer duplicated updates, and more consistent content across your proposals.

6. Save Content Back to Your Content Library

You can now save content created or customized within a proposal directly back to your Content Library, making it available for reuse in future Itineraries and Lookbooks.

This means your Content Library can grow naturally as you build proposals, rather than requiring you to create everything separately in advance.

7. Save to Resource Replaces Save for Later

The previous Save for Later functionality has been renamed Save to Resource.

When you save content to a Resource, it becomes accessible through:

Content Library → Content Page → Resource

You can manage saved Resources directly from your Content Library or within Super Builder.

More Creative Control & Customization

8. Powerful New Themes & Branding Options

Themes have been completely reimagined, giving you significantly more creative control over your client-facing designs.

You can now customize:

  • Fonts and typography.
  • Brand colors and backgrounds.
  • Page layouts and content arrangements.
  • Button styles and other design elements.
  • Navigation visibility and layout.
  • Whether to display elements such as text over primary images, the contact icon, and PDF download option.

You can create multiple Themes, apply different Themes to different proposals, and set a default Theme for new Itineraries and Lookbooks.

For businesses looking for something even more distinctive, we also offer Premium Themes, created by our Creative team to closely match your website or brand guidelines.

9. More Control Over Icons

Icons are now much more flexible and customizable.

You can:

  • Search the built-in Icon Library.
  • Search your Media Library for existing icons.
  • Upload your own custom icons.
  • Reuse previously uploaded icons across proposals.

Super Builder also supports displaying icons associated with Fast Facts on Content Library pages, bringing important information to life throughout your client-facing proposals.

10. Easier Page Management from the Table of Contents

Managing the structure of your proposal is now much more intuitive.

You can work directly from the Table of Contents to:

  • Drag and drop Content pages to rearrange them.
  • Insert blank pages.
  • Add supporting Content Library pages.
  • Insert beautiful full-width images.

This gives you much more flexibility to shape the flow of your proposal without navigating away from the Itinerary or Lookbook tab.

11. Advanced Visibility Settings

Super Builder introduces significantly more sophisticated visibility controls.

You can decide exactly which information should appear in the client-facing version of your itinerary and when it should appear, while keeping other information available internally.

This makes it easy to create everything from early-stage inspirational proposals to fully confirmed travel plans, without needing to maintain separate versions.

Remember: Visibility changes are autosaved, but you'll still need to click Publish for them to appear in the client-facing version.

12. Improved Language Translation

We've significantly improved language translation in Super Builder, making it easier than ever to create beautiful, client-facing Itineraries and Lookbooks in 25 languages.

And with Super Builder, you have much more control over how translations are created, reviewed, and shared.

Translate, Review & Refine Before Sharing

You can now translate your proposal directly from the internal Itinerary tab, allowing you to review and refine machine-generated translations before your clients ever see them.

This means you can ensure important details, destination names, and brand-specific language are translated exactly how you want.

Share & Export Translated Proposals

Once you're happy with your translation, you can share the translated version directly with your clients, without requiring them to select a language or translate it themselves from the client-facing view.

You can also export translated Itineraries and Lookbooks as PDF or Word documents, making it easy to deliver polished proposals in your clients' preferred languages.

Save Translations Back to Your Content Library

You can even save translated Content Library pages, including any manual refinements you've made, back to your library.

The next time you use that content, your saved translations are ready to go, so you don't have to translate or refine the same information all over again.

Automatic Browser Language Detection

For an even more seamless client experience, you can enable automatic browser-based translation.

When enabled, Safari Portal detects your client's browser language and automatically displays the proposal in that language, without the client having to select anything or take any additional steps.

Whether you prefer to carefully review every translation or let the system handle it automatically, Super Builder gives you the flexibility to deliver a beautifully localized experience to travelers around the world.

More Flexible Itinerary Building

13. Convert Classic Itineraries into Calendar Itineraries

You no longer have to choose between Classic Builder and Calendar Builder at the very beginning of the planning process.

Start with Classic Builder to outline the broad strokes of a journey, including destinations, accommodations, and experiences.

Then, when you're ready to add more detailed logistics, simply convert your Classic itinerary into a Calendar itinerary and continue building.

It's an easy way to move from initial ideas to a fully detailed travel plan without starting over.

14. Flights Are Now Supported in Classic Itineraries

You can now add flights directly to Classic itineraries, making them more useful for trips that don't require a fully detailed, day-by-day Calendar itinerary.

And because flights are now supported in Classic, they're also available through Travel Dashboard Travel Brief cards.

15. Reusable Flight & Transfer Templates

Save time when adding flights and transfers with reusable event templates.

For example, if you frequently book flights between the Maasai Mara and Wilson Airport, you can search for that route and select an existing template.

Super Builder will automatically prepopulate the event modal with the information you've previously saved, so you don't have to enter the same details every time.

You can then make any adjustments needed for the specific trip.

This is especially useful for frequently used routes, recurring transfers, and services you book regularly.

16. More Control Over Itinerary Dates & Day Numbering

Super Builder gives you greater flexibility over how days and dates appear in your client-facing itineraries.

You can now:

  • Start from Day 0: Ideal for arrival days, pre-trip arrangements, or introductory itinerary content.
  • Show or hide days of the week: Choose whether to display Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc., alongside itinerary dates.

These options make it easier to tailor the itinerary presentation to different types of trips and proposals.

17. More Control Over Multi-Day Events in Calendar Builder

Calendar Builder offers greater flexibility in how multi-day events appear in the client-facing itinerary.

You can choose to display a multi-day event:

  • As a single multi-day page, consolidating the information into one presentation.
  • On its start and end dates, showing the event at the beginning and conclusion.
  • On every date, displaying it throughout the event's duration.

This is especially useful for accommodations, cruises, multi-day activities, and other services that span several days.

18. More Control Over Day Pages & Travel Briefs

Calendar Builder gives you much greater flexibility over how information is presented on your itinerary's Day Pages versus its Travel Brief.

You can customize what appears in each, allowing you to create beautifully streamlined Day Pages while keeping important logistical details easily accessible in the Travel Brief.

You also have the option to synchronize content between the two, so updates made in one place can automatically flow through to the other.

This gives you the best of both worlds: complete control over your client-facing presentation, without having to maintain the same information in multiple places.

19. Collapse Content by Default

You now have the option to display itinerary content in a collapsed state by default.

This creates a cleaner, more streamlined client-facing experience, particularly for detailed itineraries with lots of information.

Travelers can expand sections as needed to explore additional details.

20. Custom Activity Types & Travel Brief Filters

Super Builder now lets you create your own custom activity types, giving you more flexibility over how experiences and services are categorized within your itineraries.

Rather than being limited to predefined activity types, you can create categories that reflect the kinds of experiences your business offers.

These custom activity types can also be used to filter content in Travel Brief views, making it easier for travelers to quickly find the information they're looking for.

For example, you could create custom activity types for Game Drives, Dining, Theater, or Excursions, allowing travelers to filter their Travel Brief to see only those activities.

It's another way to create a more organized, intuitive, and personalized travel experience.

Smarter Calendar Builder Workflows

21. An Even Smarter Magic Import

Magic Import has been improved to make importing supplier documents even more powerful.

Available in Calendar Builder, Magic Import uses AI to transform supplier itineraries, quotes, and other documents into structured, editable itinerary events.

It can now also pre-match imported content with existing Content Library pages, making it easier to reuse your carefully curated content.

This helps reduce duplicate work and makes the import process even faster.

22. Edit Events Without Switching Views

You can now open and edit event details directly from both the Builder and Itinerary views in Calendar Builder.

There's no need to keep switching back and forth just to make adjustments.

This creates a smoother workflow, allowing you to edit event information while reviewing how the itinerary is organized or presented.

23. More Operational Tracking in Calendar Builder

Calendar Builder now supports additional operational information at the individual event or service level.

You can track:

  • Booked By: Who is responsible for or has booked the service.
  • Supplier: Which supplier is associated with the service.
  • Status: The current booking or operational status of the event.

This brings more of the operational side of trip planning directly into the itinerary-building experience.

24. More Structured Event & Content Fields

Super Builder introduces more structured fields, giving you greater control over how important travel details are captured, organized, and displayed.

Depending on the type of content or service, you can now include dedicated fields for information such as:

  • Cabin Class: Clearly specify flight cabin classes.
  • Amenities: Highlight important property and accommodation features.
  • Policies: Organize booking conditions and other relevant policies.
  • Inclusions & Exclusions: Clearly communicate what's included in a service or itinerary, and what isn't.

By capturing this information in dedicated fields rather than burying it in free-form descriptions, you can create more consistent, detailed, and professional client-facing itineraries.

25. More Flexible Flight Notifications

Flight notifications now offer greater flexibility and control.

You can configure who should receive flight notifications, including travelers and relevant team members.

Notifications can be delivered through:

  • Push notifications.
  • Email notifications sent directly to travelers.

This helps keep the right people informed about important flight updates without requiring manual communication.

26. More Granular Team Permissions

Super Builder introduces additional permissions to give account administrators more control over what team members can manage.

For example, you can control who has permission to manage shared information such as Departure From and Arrival To locations used across the team.

This is particularly useful for larger teams that want to maintain consistent data while limiting who can make account-wide changes.

Coming Soon to Super Builder

We're continuing to expand Super Builder with even more powerful tools for creating, managing, and automating travel experiences.

Here's a preview of what's on the way!

Group Trips

Enhanced support for group travel, making it easier to manage complex itineraries involving multiple travelers, groups, and services.

Calendar Builder Table View

A powerful new Table View designed for more detailed itinerary management and operations.

This will introduce additional ways to work with itinerary data, including:

  • Rooming lists.
  • Quoting.
  • Operational views and workflows.

It will complement Calendar Builder's visual Board View and client-facing Itinerary View.

Convert Lookbooks into Calendar Itineraries

Soon you'll be able to convert a Lookbook directly into a Calendar Builder itinerary.

This will make it easier to move from an inspirational proposal into detailed trip planning without rebuilding everything from scratch.

Weather Forecasts on Itineraries

We're bringing weather forecasts directly into client-facing itineraries, giving travelers useful destination weather information alongside their travel plans.

Hide Day Numbers

Soon, you'll also be able to hide day numbers entirely from your itinerary.

This will be particularly useful for proposals where you want to showcase the flow of a journey without emphasizing a specific day-by-day structure.

Improved Map Controls

We're working on additional map customization options to give you greater control over how destinations, routes, and locations appear in your itineraries.

Programmatic Itinerary Creation with APIs, MCP & Lily

Looking further ahead, we're building the ability to create itineraries programmatically using Safari Portal's APIs, MCP server, and Lily.

This will open up exciting possibilities for connecting Safari Portal to other systems, automating itinerary creation, and using AI to build travel experiences.

Collaborative Itinerary Sharing & Editing

Soon, you'll be able to share and collaboratively edit the same Itinerary or Lookbook with anyone — whether or not they have a Safari Portal account.

Instead of sending separate versions back and forth, you'll be able to invite external collaborators, such as DMCs, travel advisors, and other partners, to work together on a single, synchronized proposal.

Everyone will be working from the same version, with changes kept in sync, eliminating the confusion of multiple copies and making collaboration across companies easier than ever.

Whether you're working with a DMC to build out an itinerary or partnering with another travel professional on a proposal, you'll be able to create and refine the experience together, all in one place.
