Why is the map page not displaying anything in my Itinerary? How can I include activities on my maps?
Automatically generated maps in Safari Portal.
When creating Itineraries or Lookbooks in Safari Portal, Itinerary maps are automatically generated based on the Property Pages you include. Lookbook maps show both Property Pages and Area Pages.
Here’s how to ensure your map is generated correctly:
For Itineraries
- Classic Builder:
- Make sure Property Pages are @mentioned in the Details tab.
- If no Property Pages are @mentioned, the system cannot generate map data or coordinates.
- Calendar Builder:
- Add an Accommodation Event from the timeline or calendar view.
- Search for the accommodation in the Content Library, and select the correct property from the dropdown.
For Lookbooks
- Property and Area pages included in the General Info tab will automatically generate pins on the map.
- If no Property or Area pages are added, the map will not be generated.
- If a property sits inside an area already shown, we hide the area pin to avoid duplicates.
Troubleshooting
If you’ve added at least one property to the Details tab of your Itinerary but no map has been generated, check the following:
- Property Page Check:
- Confirm that the property was created as a Property Page in the Content Library.
- Miscellaneous Pages do not include map coordinates and cannot be pinned to the map.
- Calendar Builder Placeholder Events:
- If you used the Create as one-off placeholder event option when creating content on the fly, the event will not include map points to pin.
Custom Maps for Activities or Points of Interest
If you’d like to create a custom map—for example, to include activities, tours, or other points of interest—you can do so using the iFrame element to incorporate Google Maps, Google My Maps, or Mapbox maps.
