When you connect a custom domain to Safari Portal, what happens to your existing links depends on whether you're adding a custom domain for the first time or replacing an existing one.
Adding a custom domain for the first time
TLDR: If you are connecting a custom domain for the first time, your existing links will continue to work.
Any itineraries, lookbooks, invoices, dashboards, or other content that you've already shared using Safari Portal's default links will remain accessible. You can also generate custom-domain links for existing content, and visitors using the original links will automatically be redirected to the new custom-domain version.
In other words, adding a custom domain does not invalidate links that have already been shared.
Changing an existing custom domain
TLDR: If you already have a custom domain connected and later decide to change it, all links that use the previous custom domain will become invalid.
For example, if you change from:
itineraries.yourcompany.com
to
travel.yourcompany.com
any links shared using travel.yourcompany.com will no longer work.
Because the original custom domain is being replaced, Safari Portal cannot redirect visitors from the old domain to the new one.
After changing your custom domain, you'll need to generate and reshare new links with your clients so they can continue to access your content.
