Quick Takeaways

  • In this webinar, Safari Portal's Rachel West walked through a series of new features across the app, messaging, and Travel Dashboard experience โ€” including the new immersive app entry screen, message sets, and an update on the future of Guest Portals.
  • The Travel Portal app now opens to a full-screen cover page for the client's most relevant trip โ€” their next confirmed itinerary, or the only piece of content in their app. Clients can tap "Enter" to dive into the experience, see their countdown timer, or make the trip available offline โ€” all from that opening screen.
  • The app's side navigation now organizes content into two tabs: Trips (any itinerary or lookbook added to the app) and Travel Dashboards (only appears if the client has at least one). Learn more about how travelers navigate the app.
  • Sharing content to the app just got simpler. Anything you share via email is now automatically preloaded in the client's app as soon as they register โ€” no QR code, no "Add to App" step โ€” as long as they use the same email address. See how sharing to the app works.
  • In-app messaging now supports private messaging โ€” a client can send a message directly to the chat owner without the rest of the group seeing it. This is toggle-controlled, so you decide whether to enable it. Learn more about private messaging.
  • Message Templates are reusable snippets โ€” text, links, or attachments โ€” that you can save once and send or schedule from any chat. A big time-saver for messages you send repeatedly.
  • Message Sets take it further: build an entire automated communication journey tied to key trip milestones (file created, file confirmed, trip starts, trip ends) and assign the whole set to any chat. Think of it as task sets, but for client messaging โ€” confirmations, reminders, post-trip follow-ups, all handled automatically.
  • Message settings give you fine-grained control: toggle chat alert badges on or off, automatically create chats for newly confirmed files, enable private messaging, or assign a dedicated chat owner for your whole team. These settings work together โ€” a file needs a chat created before a message set can be applied to it.
  • Travel Dashboards are the future โ€” Guest Portals will be sunsetted. New Guest Portal creation will be turned off at a future date; existing Guest Portals will continue to be supported until approximately end of 2027. If you're creating content for trips in 2028 or beyond, start building Travel Dashboards now.
  • Travel Dashboards are already more flexible than Guest Portals โ€” usable at any stage of the client journey, supporting invoices, insurance, multiple itineraries, and custom sections. Don't miss the Themes button: change fonts, colors, button styles, and logo shape. A platform-wide themes library is coming soon. Explore dashboard theme customization.
  • If you're on Classic Builder and need flights on a Travel Dashboard, the current workaround is to create a Calendar Builder itinerary in the same file with only the flight details, then use the Travel Brief card to pull them in. See the step-by-step guide. A fix is on the way โ€” SuperBuilder (launching in roughly 6โ€“8 weeks) will allow flights to be added directly to Classic Builder itineraries.
