How do I sign in with a passkey in Safari Portal?
Add a passkey in Settings and sign in without your password.
A passkey lets you sign in with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN instead of typing your password. It's faster than a password and harder for anyone else to use.
📌 Before you start: Adding a passkey works best in the Google Chrome browser.
Step-By-Step Instructions
Add a Passkey
- Click your profile icon in the top right, then click Settings.
- Make sure you are inside the Personal tab.
- Scroll down to the Security section.
- Next to Passkeys, click Add a Passkey.
- If Safari Portal asks for your password, enter it.
- Click Add Passkey.
- When your browser asks, confirm with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN.
- You will see Passkey added, and your new passkey will show in the list.
Sign In With a Passkey
- Go to the Safari Portal sign-in page.
- Click Sign in with a passkey. In some browsers, you can also click the email box and pick your passkey from the list that appears.
- Confirm with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN.
- You're signed in. You don't need to enter a 2FA code.
📌 Note: If you already typed your email, click Use a passkey instead of entering your password.
Remove a Passkey
- Click your profile icon in the top right, then click Settings.
- Make sure you are inside the Personal tab.
- Scroll down to the Security section.
- Find the passkey in the list under Passkeys and click Remove.
- If Safari Portal asks for your password, enter it.
- Click Remove Passkey.
Tips & Tricks 💥
- You'll get an email each time a passkey is added to your account. If you didn't add it, remove it and change your password.
- Changing your password or clicking Sign Out Everywhere does not remove your passkeys. To remove one, use the Remove button.
- Using a new computer? If your passkey syncs through iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, it may already work there. If not, sign in with your password and add a new passkey on that device.
- Lost the device with your passkey? Sign in with your password and authenticator code, then remove the old passkey. No authenticator app? Ask your Account Admin to reset your 2FA.
