Quick Takeaways
- Rachel gave the first official walkthrough of Lookbook Superbuilder, a completely reimagined way to create, customize, and manage Lookbooks. It's everything you already know about Lookbooks, just better, so there's no new system to learn.
- The create flow is simpler: the General Info tab is gone. You see what you're building as you build it, and you can drag and drop to reorder pages or add new content pages right from the builder.
- The "Prepared for" field no longer forces those words in front of your text, so you can write "Curated for" or "For Rachel and family's anniversary trip." The old Proposed Travel Dates field can now say whatever you like, too.
- Autosave and publish now come to Lookbooks, the same way they work in invoices, forms, travel dashboards, and content pages. Changes save as you go, colleagues working in the same Lookbook show up as avatars, and clients only see your updates once you click Publish.
- You can now save a page you've tweaked inside a Lookbook back to your Content Library, either overwriting the original or saving it as a new page. You can also pull in a blank page and build it on the spot. Team members need the Content Library create/edit/delete permission to save pages back. What is the Content Library?
- Themes are expanding to Lookbooks, with fonts (30+ to choose from, or ask us to load your own for a small fee), text size up to extra large, font and accent colors, button style and size, plus three new base layouts, including text over the left-side images. How Themes Work
- If you've already paid for a custom template, it will be rebuilt as a custom theme for you at no extra cost during the migration. A premium custom-theme design service is still available if you want to go further.
- Audit logs show who changed what, and when, and whether each change has been published yet. They'll also be available in itineraries.
- Translations are the big one: you can translate everything in a Lookbook, not just the system text, then edit any line you don't like. The translated copy appears right above the original in the file, and it can be downloaded as a PDF or Word document, which you can't do today. How does the language translation feature work?
- When you translate, you can also save a translated copy of each content page back to your library, tagged by language, so it's ready next time. Translating breaks the link to the original page, so future updates to the original won't carry over.
- Even without translating on your end, a shared Lookbook will automatically pick up the viewer's browser language, as long as translation is turned on for your account.
- Other things we spotted: a Cost page (reusing your saved cost templates, with editable "includes" and "does not include" labels), full-width image dividers, a configurable map, and a built-in Unsplash image search that works through Safari Portal's own account.
- When Superbuilder itineraries launch, you'll be able to convert a Lookbook into a Calendar Builder itinerary, but not a Classic one. Classic and Calendar builders aren't going away; they're each getting their own Superbuilder upgrade.
- Timing: Superbuilder isn't live yet. The team is working on the migration and aims to start rolling it out over the next couple of weeks. Asking Lily to build a whole Lookbook for you comes in a later phase.
- Your Guide to Safari Portal, shown last week, is now live, and weekly Superbuilder sneak peek lessons are being added there so you can review or share what you saw today.
- Rachel's ask: if you're enjoying Safari Portal, please leave a review on G2. It lets the team put more back into the product instead of marketing.
