Why can I see the card number but not the CVV?
Understand why the CVV may appear as *** on a Credit Card Authorization
If you can see a contact's 16-digit card number but the CVV field displays *** instead of the security code, this is usually intentional.
Some people choose not to include their CVV on the Credit Card Authorization form and instead enter *** as an additional security measure. They can then provide the CVV over the phone when you're ready to process the payment.
What should I do?
If the CVV is hidden:
- Contact the contact when you're ready to process the payment.
- Ask them to provide the CVV over the phone or through another secure communication method.
- Use the card number together with the CVV they provide to complete the transaction.
This provides an additional layer of security while still allowing you to securely collect and store their card details.
