How it works
When configuring a Form Card, you can choose to assign form responses to a File.
If you save the Travel Dashboard as a template, this setting is preserved. When the template is later used to create a new Travel Dashboard, the Form Card will automatically reattach form responses to the File that the new Travel Dashboard is created within.
This means you don't need to reconfigure the Form Card each time you use the template.
Example: You create a Travel Dashboard template using an internal test File. Later, you use that template to create a Travel Dashboard for the Smith family. Any responses submitted through the Form Card will automatically be attached to the Smith family's File — not the original test File.
Does it matter which File I use when creating the template?
No.
The File you attach the Form Card to while building the template is simply a placeholder that allows you to save the template. It has no impact on future Travel Dashboards created from that template.
If you later edit the Form Card within the template, Safari Portal may prompt you to attach it to a File again (if Assign form responses to a File is enabled). You can select any File—when the template is used to create a new Travel Dashboard, the Form Card will automatically reconnect to the File that the new Travel Dashboard is created within.
Which Form Card settings are preserved?
When you save a Travel Dashboard as a template, the following Form Card settings are preserved:
- All Form Settings toggles
- The Card Title
- The Card Description
- The Button Text
When a new Travel Dashboard is created from the template, all of these settings are carried over automatically.
However, any form submissions associated with the original Form Card are not included in the template. Each new Travel Dashboard starts with a fresh Form Card ready to collect new responses from its own travelers.
