How does a contact's Lead Source get filled in?
Safari Portal fills in Original Lead Source and Secondary Lead Source from your Files.

If you already set a File's Source when you create a File, to track how that trip came in, Safari Portal also fills in the matching Original Lead Source and Secondary Lead Source fields on the linked Contacts, so you don't have to enter it twice, and your Contact-level filters and reports don't miss it.

How Lead Source Gets Filled In

  • If a File has a Source set, and a contact's Original Lead Source field is blank, Safari Portal fills in Original Lead Source with the File's Source.
  • If Original Lead Source already has a value, but Secondary Lead Source is blank, Safari Portal fills in Secondary Lead Source instead.
  • If both fields already have values, Safari Portal leaves them alone.
  • This applies to every traveler attached to the File, not just one main contact. Each traveler's own Original Lead Source and Secondary Lead Source fields get filled in separately, following the same rules above.

What Happens If You Change a Lead Source Yourself

  • You can change either field by hand. Click the pencil icon next to Original Lead Source on the Contact Profile, then choose a new value from the dropdown.
  • Once you change a field this way, or through a CSV import, a webform, or Zapier, Safari Portal stops auto filling that field for that contact.
  • Later changes to the File's Source will not overwrite your manual entry.
  • If you clear a field, Safari Portal can fill it back in the next time a matching File comes along.

Tips & Tricks 💥

  • Auto fill only works when the File's Source matches one of Safari Portal's standard options: Referral, Partnership, Repeat Client, Digital Ads (PPC), Social Media, Event, PR, Online Search, and Other.
  • If your account uses a custom or renamed Source, it will not auto fill. You will need to set the Contact's field by hand.
  • When you merge two duplicate Contact Profiles, any blank Original Lead Source or Secondary Lead Source field on the surviving contact gets filled in from the other contact, if it has a value there.
  • You can filter or bulk edit these fields at any time. See How do I filter my Contacts? for more.
