If you're using Stripe to accept payments, you can choose which payment methods to offer your clients, including bank wire, ACH/ SEPA/ IDEAL, and credit cards, among others. This guide will show you how to configure them to fit your business needs.
You must configure the payment methods available to your clients via Stripe through your Stripe Dashboard—with the exception of card payments (more on this below).
⚠️ Important: ACH payments can only be processed from a US based bank account into a US based bank account, in U.S. dollars (USD).
Step-By-Step Instructions
- Log into your Stripe dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings: Click the gear icon in the top right.
- Go to Payment Methods:
- Under Product settings, click Payments.
- Then, click Payment methods.
- Select Safari Portal configuration.
- Enable your preferred payment methods—except card payments.
- ⚠️ Do NOT enable card payments directly in Stripe. Card payments should be activated on an invoice-by-invoice basis through Safari Portal to give you better control over fees.
- This also means disabling any payment method in Stripe with the Type listed as Cards, Wallet, or Buy Now, Pay Later, including (but not limited to):
- Cards
- Alipay
- Amazon Pay
- Apple Pay
- Cash App Pay
- Google Pay
- Kakao Pay
- Link
- Affirm
- Afterpay / Clearpay
- Klarna

Card Payments
Do not enable card payments via Stripe. Instead, you can manage card payments directly within Safari Portal, and take advantage of the built-in card surcharging solution. This allows you to:
- Enable card payments on a per-invoice basis.
- Apply optional card surcharges as needed.
You can configure these settings under the Payments tab when creating invoices, and save them as part of your Invoice Templates. See the steps below to enable card payments in Safari Portal:
