How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Turn on 2FA in your own Settings, or require it for your whole team.

📌 Before you start: You'll need an authenticator app on your phone, like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Duo Mobile.

Two-factor authentication, or 2FA, adds an extra layer of protection to your Safari Portal login. It's one of the most recommended ways to protect any online account. Each time you log in, you'll enter your password and a six-digit code from your phone. Each user can set up 2FA in their own settings. Account Admins can also require 2FA for everyone on the account.

Step-By-Step Instructions

Add 2FA

  1. Click your profile icon in the top right, then click Settings.
  2. Make sure you are inside the Personal tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Security section.
  4. Next to Enable 2FA, click Configure 2FA.
  5. If you don't have one yet, download a free authenticator app on your phone, like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Duo Mobile.
  6. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code in the Enable 2FA window.
  7. Enter your Safari Portal Password.
  8. Enter the six-digit code your app shows.Click Verify Now.

Disable 2FA

  1. Click your profile icon in the top right, then click Settings.
  2. Make sure you are inside the Personal tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Security section.
  4. Next to Enable 2FA, click Disable 2FA.
  5. Enter your Safari Portal Password.
  6. Click Remove 2FA Verification.

Require 2FA for Your Team

📌 Account Admins only: Only Account Admins can require 2FA for all users.

  1. Click your profile icon in the top right, then click Settings.
  2. Click the Users tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Two-Factor Authentication section.
  4. Turn on the Require two-factor authentication for all users toggle.

What Your Team Sees at Login

Once you turn this on, anyone on your account who hasn't set up 2FA must do it the next time they log in. They can't use Safari Portal until they finish.

When they try to log in, they will see the Enable 2FA window. They will also see a red message in the bottom right: "Two-factor authentication is required by [your company name]. Set it up to continue."

To finish setup, they will:

  1. Download an authenticator app if they don't have one yet, like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Duo Mobile.
  2. Scan the QR code with the app. If they can't scan it, they can click Copy next to the secret key and paste it into the app.
  3. Enter the six-digit code from the app and click Verify Now.

Tips & Tricks 💥

  • Want your whole team using 2FA? Turn on Require two-factor authentication for all users. Your team will be asked to set it up the next time they log in.
  • Not sure if 2FA is on? Check the button next to Enable 2FA. If it says Disable 2FA, it's on. If it says Configure 2FA, it's off.
  • Can't scan the QR code? Click Copy next to the secret key and paste it into your app instead.
  • The code changes every 30 seconds. If it doesn't work, wait for a new code and try again.
  • Think someone else has been in your account? Click Sign Out Everywhere in the same Security section. This logs you out on all other devices.
