Offering Travel Insurance in Safari Portal
How to use the Redpoint travel insurance integration to offer travel insurance to your clients or let them generate instant quotes themselves, and earn commissions

Offer instant travel insurance quotes directly inside your Guest Portal — and earn commission on every policy sold.

Safari Portal’s Travel Insurance integration with Redpoint Travel Protection allows you to:

  • Generate and send quotes to your clients
    OR
  • Let travelers generate their own instant quote inside the Guest Portal

This ensures insurance is offered consistently — without added admin or back-and-forth.

You’ll earn competitive commissions on all plans sold, paid directly by Redpoint.

Key Points

  • Integrated with a custom Redpoint plan built exclusively for the Safari Portal community:
    • Covers both US‑ and non‑US residents.
    • Typical market rate for similar cover: ~11.5% of trip cost.
    • Your plan: 6.5% of trip cost, and age‑agnostic (same rate whether guests are 30 or 70).
  • Guests can generate an instant quote in‑flow (literally one click after completing their forms) or you can generate it on their behalf.
  • You earn meaningful commissions on every policy sold.
  • To quantify: a company doing $3M/year in booking revenue could add up to $50,000/year in passive income, while adding real value for your clients 🤯

Important Note

Safari Portal does not sell, underwrite, or administer travel insurance policies. All policies are issued, managed, and supported directly by Redpoint Travel Protection. Safari Portal provides the technology that enables advisors to offer and facilitate access to insurance quotes within the Guest Portal.

All coverage questions, claims, and policy servicing are handled exclusively by Redpoint.

What You’ll Need

  • A Safari Portal account on a Tier II plan or higher (with Guest Portals enabled)
  • Insurance credentials from Redpoint Travel Protection

To get started, submit this short form and Redpoint will follow up with you as soon as possible.

Step-by-Step Setup & Usage

1️⃣ Set Up the Integration (Account Admin Only)

  1. Navigate to Account Settings
  2. Click the Integrations tab
  3. Click Connect next to Redpoint Insurance
  4. Enter the credentials provided by Redpoint

Once connected, all users on your account will be able to offer travel insurance.

2️⃣ Enable Travel Insurance in the Guest Portal

  1. From your Safari Portal Dashboard, open the relevant File
  2. Click Edit Guest Portal
  3. Go to the General Info tab
  4. Toggle Travel Insurance to enabled

Insurance will now appear inside that Guest Portal, on the Guest Forms page.

Option A: Generate a Quote for Your Client

Use this when you want to prepare and send the quote yourself.

Step 1: Confirm Guest Forms Are Completed

  1. Go to the Guest Forms tab
  2. Ensure each traveler has completed their form

If forms are incomplete:

  • Click the big blue Add New Guest button
  • Select Search Existing (if contact already exists)
    OR
  • Click Add New Guest and enter at minimum:
    • First name
    • Last name
    • Email
    • Date of birth
    • Country (and State if US)

Step 2: Generate the Quote

  1. Navigate to the Guest Portal tab (last tab at the top)
    1. Click Guest Forms from the Table of Contents on the left
  2. Click Get Instant Quote
  3. Enter the Date of Initial Trip Payment
  4. Click Continue
  5. Select:
    • Which travelers to include
    • The Primary Traveler (this person receives policy emails)
  6. Enter the per-person trip cost
  7. Click Continue

On the next screen, you will:

  • See the policy quote
  • If insurance is being purchased within 15 days of initial trip payment, you will also see the option to add Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage
  1. Click Continue

The Lead Traveler will receive:

  • An email from Redpoint that will contain a button to review and purchase the policy.

Pro Tip: If you want the quote to be sent to you rather than the client, just change the Primary Traveler's email address to yours when generating the quote within Safari Portal. You will receive all comms from Redpoint and can share them onwards with your client as needed.

Option B: Let Clients Generate Their Own Quote

Alternatively, you can simply:

  1. Share the Guest Portal with your travelers
  2. Let them know that once their Guest Forms are complete, they can click Get Instant Quote
    1. You should also let them know that Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) and pre-existing condition coverage can only be offered if travel insurance is purchased within 14 days of the initial trip payment.
  3. They will then follow the same quote flow outlined above

This is the most hands-off approach.

3️⃣ Track Insurance Purchases

To see who has purchased insurance:

  1. From your Dashboard, click Open File Details
  2. Go to the Travelers tab
  3. Look at the Extras column
    1. If insurance has been purchased, the umbrella icon will turn blue.

Tips & Tricks 💥

  • The File owner will receive an automated email from Safari Portal with the File name and lead traveler name when:
    • An insurance quote has been generated.
    • An insurance plan has been purchased.
  • If you use Guest Portal templates, update them to automatically include the Travel Insurance section:
    • Go to Content Library → Templates → Guest Portal Templates and toggle on the Travel Insurance option from the General Info tab of any templates
  • Encourage travelers to purchase insurance within 14 days of initial trip payment to maintain eligibility for:
    • Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR)
    • Pre-existing condition coverage
  • In the expanded file view, under the Travelers tab, the Extras column indicates whether a client has purchased travel insurance (the umbrella icon will appear blue) and whether they have installed the app (the mobile phone icon will appear blue).

Troubleshooting

Insurance Not Showing?

  • Confirm the integration is connected under Account Settings → Integrations
  • Confirm Travel Insurance is toggled on in that specific Guest Portal
  • Insurance is not available on white-labeled itineraries created for partner agents

Guests Live in Different States or Countries?

  • Travelers must reside in the same country
  • For US-based clients, they must also reside in the same state

If travelers are in different states/countries:

  • Complete the quote flow once for those in the same state/country
  • Repeat separately for the others

Pricing

  • In general the cost for the Redpoint travel insurance will be 6.5% of the trip cost.
  • Cancel For Any Reason will roughly double that cost (it's actually slightly less but this will give you a rough estimate).

Coverage Questions?

Safari Portal does not provide insurance advice. All coverage questions, eligibility inquiries, policy servicing, and claims must be directed to Redpoint Travel Protection directly. They can be reached at +1 415-481-0600.

Redpoint also:

  • Handles all commission payouts
  • Pays commissions the month following policy purchase

If you need assistance enabling the integration or walking through your first quote, our team is happy to help.
