About In-App Messaging
Create Chat Groups to communicate via the Travel Portal app and your agent dashboard.
In-app messaging makes it easy to communicate with Partner Agents, Sales Consultants, Trip Leaders, Suppliers, and Travelers directly within Safari Portal. You can create chat groups linked to specific Files, so all conversations stay organized and in one place.
How It Works:
- To use messaging on a File, you must first create a chat group for that File.
- Chat members must be associated with the File as either a Partner Agent, Sales Consultant, Trip Leader, Supplier, or Travelers via the Information tab or Traveler tab of the File.
- If no chat group exists, in-app chat will not be available.

- Once a chat group is created, the notifications bell will appear within the traveler app with a chat thread for that File.

Creating a Chat Group
You can start a new chat group from either of these places:
- Messages Module on your sidebar.
- Messages Tab inside the expanded view of any File.

Adding Participants
- You can select from Partner Agents, Sales Consultants, Suppliers, Trip Leaders, and Travelers already associated with the File.
- To associate more people with the File, expand the File → click Information → add Travelers, Partner Agents, Suppliers, Trip Leaders, or Sales Consultants.
- If you add someone to a chat after it has been created, they will be able to see the full chat history.

Customizing the Chat Name
By default, the Chat Name matches the internal name of the File. Your clients will see this.
You can edit it from within the chat on your Dashboard by clicking the pencil icon next to the name.

Sending & Receiving Messages
- You (and anyone in the chat group) can send messages from:
- The app
- The agent dashboard (via the Messages tab in the expanded File, or from the Messages Module on your sidebar)
- Messages are visible to all members of the chat group.
- Chat group members will receive messages even if they haven’t loaded the Itinerary or Lookbook in their app.
- Recipients will get messages in three ways:
- In-app Notifications Center
- Push notifications on their phone
- Email (with the ability to reply directly from email)
Notifications
- Chat members will receive a notification each time there’s a new message.
- New messages appear in the Notifications Center in the app and on the Agent Dashboard, with a red badge indicating the number of unread messages.

- Safari Portal agents can view and reply directly within the agent Dashboard.
