The app home screen
When a traveler opens the Travel Portal app (or any custom app), the first screen they will see is the cover page for the most recent experience shared with them, or the experience containing their next upcoming trip.
This could be:
- An itinerary
- A lookbook
- A Guest Portal
- A Travel Dashboard
The cover page includes a trip countdown and serves as a quick way for travelers to jump directly into their most relevant trip experience.
From here, travelers can either:
- Open that experience directly; or
- Tap All Trips to view all of the travel experiences that have been shared with them.
They can also tap to make that experience available offline, or open up the messages center from there.
The Trips and Travel Dashboards tabs
Once you click All Trips, you will see a navigation bar with two options. Clicking either takes you to a main screen with two main sections:
Trips
The Trips tab contains all itineraries and lookbooks that have been shared with the traveler or manually added to their app.
Travel Dashboards
The Travel Dashboards tab contains all Travel Dashboards that have been shared with the traveler or manually added to their app.
How Travel Dashboards and Trips work together
When a Travel Dashboard contains an itinerary or lookbook, that itinerary or lookbook is automatically added to the Trips tab as well.
This means travelers can access the same content in two different ways:
- By opening the Travel Dashboards tab, selecting the relevant Travel Dashboard, and then opening the itinerary or lookbook from within the dashboard; or
- By navigating directly to the Trips tab and opening the itinerary or lookbook from there.
Switching between tabs
Travelers can easily move between the Trips and Travel Dashboards tabs at any time, allowing them to view all of the experiences that have been shared with them and access their travel information in whichever way is most convenient.
Using the Travel Portal app as a tour operator/ advisor/ DMC
If you're using the Travel Portal app as an advisor, it's important to note that files from your Safari Portal account do not automatically sync to your app.
This is intentional, as automatically syncing every itinerary, lookbook, guest portal, and Travel Dashboard from your account could consume a significant amount of storage space on your device.
To access a file within the app, you must either:
- Share the itinerary, lookbook, Guest Portal, or Travel Dashboard with yourself via email; or
- Open the experience on your phone or tablet and manually add it to your app.
For most advisors, we recommend accessing Safari Portal directly from your mobile browser instead of relying on the app for day-to-day work.
Simply navigate to account.safariportal.app from your phone or tablet browser to access your Safari Portal account. From there, you'll have access to the same files, workflows, and functionality available in the desktop version of Safari Portal, without needing to sync content to your device.
